  • Dustin Miller at Hometown Focus recommends the 3-2-1 rule: "Have three copies of your data on at least two different types of media with at least one of them off-site."
  • Not into physical media? Nick Douglas from LifeHacker uses the cloud for everything - music, photos, files, etc.
  • Seagate recommends multiple backup locations: "A hard drive is most definitely a better solution for long term, archive backups. The way that a standard hard drive writes data to it’s physical media has been better proved to last longer. Flash Drives are specifically designed for mobility and not for long term storage as they read and write fast, but can have issues over a longer period of time. Of course, it’s always recommended to have 2 backups in 2 different places, ex: 1 HDD backup and 1 on the cloud."
